When Veronica Gustin taught herself to play golf, all she had was an old throwaway club with a grip eaten off by grasshoppers and a book by pro golfer Patty Berg.

Gustin later went on to win the Montana women’s state championship nine times and was inducted into the Montana State Women’s Golf Association’s Hall of Fame in 1992.

At 105, she still displays the air of the spry, feisty woman who learned to play golf on a “dry farm.” Gustin, who lives at the McKillip Residence in Marian Estates, recently celebrated her milestone birthday with a large group of admirers.
